Geopolymer concrete with treated recycled aggregates: Macro and microstructural behavior
نویسندگان
چکیده
Geopolymer concrete is a more environmentally friendly alternative than conventional because its production does not need cement. Instead, waste materials such as fly ash, rice husk slag, etc. are used. This research studies the effect of activator concentration (6–10 M), curing temperature (40–80 °C) and incorporation ratio thermally mechanically treated recycled aggregate (0–100%) on changes in macrostructural properties geopolymer concrete. All raw were previously characterized by thermogravimetric differential thermal analysis, X-ray fluorescence diffraction. Furthermore, microstructural characterization was carried out two mixes used reference: one made with natural other aggregate. The interfacial transition zone between aggregate/natural paste studied using SEM-EDS. A beneficial aggregates compressive strength observed due to formation silicate hydrated gel (CSH) calcium aluminate (CASH). However, slight increase water absorption mass peels after 28 freezing thawing cycles occurred presence residual porous cement mortar surface.

Low Cycle Fatigue Behavior of Concrete with Recycled Concrete Aggregates
A comparison of concrete containing recycled concrete coarse aggregates and natural coarse aggregates subjected to high strain, low cycle compressive fatigue is presented. Using a strain based feedback control loop, concrete cylinders are compressed at 15µε/s to a specified strain then unloaded to zero stress for 10 cycles. After cycling, all samples are loaded to a strain of 0.008. Direct conc...

Recent scientific concerns to achieve sustainability in construction have suggested the implementation of using recycled aggregate in concrete because it has the potential to reduce the demand for extraction of natural raw materials and decrease the volume of wastes landfilled. In this respect, this study aims to investigate the suitability of using ceramic tile (CT) and ceramic sanitary (CS) w...

The main strategy to reduce the environmental impact of the concrete industry is to reuse the waste materials. This research has considered the combination of cement replacement by industrial by-products, and natural coarse aggregate substitution by recycled aggregate. The aim is to evaluate the behavior of concretes with a reduced impact on the environment by replacing a 50% of cement by indus...

The correct estimation of building energy consumptions is assuming an always increasing importance, and a detailed reproduction of building structures, with all the single components involved, is necessary to achieve this aim. In addition, the current ecological development tries to limit the use of natural raw materials as building components, in favor of alternative (waste) materials, which e...
